Acceler 8 Gameplay

such an impressive game, dripping with style, the only thing i felt it needed was some sort of consequence for hitting a car or the side. I needs a nice chunky explosion in my opinion.

The game is pretty good! I think the turning could use a bit of work, and maybe your opponents should also be affected by the other cars, but other than that the game's great. Looking forward to updates!

I put the race theme up on Newgrounds a while back :)

Awesome. I was looking for a nice but simple 2D racing game.

Really excellent! Feels very dangerous with how the world rolls and bends and objects pop out into view so quickly. Looks and sounds just fantastic.

Nice work! Hows dev going

Really solid!

I just wish there were a difficulty curve, either as a setting or as levels or whatever. Back when you first posted it I was unable to place at all. After playing it a bunch, finally I was able to place in first - but there was no gradual working up from 8th to 4th to 2nd to 1st. If think an easy mode could have less severe curves and no cars, and then you could increase those elements for higher difficulties.

Keep up the good work!

Where can I download the PICO-8 cart?

I plan to release the png cartridge when it gets a little closer to "Done". When I'm happy enough with it to put it up on the BBS,  I'll put it up for download here!

This was a really fun little game. I loved the art style and the general gameplay was good. I would definetly reccommend thius if you're wanting to try something that's like the older and simpler days.

Thanks for playing, I'm glad you liked it! There's currently a bug, where when the opposing racers cross the line, they drop off of the position tracking, which is what causes your position to go up without passing anyone.
At high speeds, braking is super important to get through the sharper turns without going off-road (which slows you down!)
